What is PRP?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections can stimulate aging hair and skin cells and tissues to keep your body looking and feeling young.

Harness the full potential of cell regeneration

Stimulate and help speed up the healing process to enable a return to activities sooner.

Though studies have shown wide-spread success, and not everybody achieves the same results as the mechanism behind PRP injections is not completely understood.

FAQ

While PRP is considered safe for most people, certain medical conditions affect your platelets and make them unable to deliver the expected results.

It’s not recommended for anyone who has one of the following medical conditions:

  • Hepatitis C
  • HIV or AIDS
  • Any type of blood cancer
  • Cardiovascular disease, which requires taking a blood thinner
  • Skin cancer in the area to be treated

Research has shown that results become most evident after 3 or more treatments. Each round of treatment requires a blood sample, platelet extraction and PRP creation, and re-injecting PRP to the target area.

For more immediate results, we may also inject a filler during your PRP treatment.

Depending on the patient, PRP injections can range from $250 to $1,500 per treatment.

It’s important to note that because PRP is given to improve physical appearance, medical insurance is unlikely to cover the cost.

Results can last as long as 18 months.

While there are still some unanswered questions surrounding PRP, the procedure itself appears safe.

The biggest risks comes from the way your blood is handled. It’s essential to all of us at Ocean Avenue Aesthetics that your blood is kept sterile throughout the entire process.

We follow the same process that transfusion centers use to make sure that your own blood is injected back into you. The blood we take out is the blood we put back in—just with a higher concentration of platelets.

Some patients experience a bit of pain, bruising, and/or swelling. Side effects from PRP injections tend to fade within a few days.
